Creating and verifying a domain : "@" is not compatible with DNS record

Hi,

I'm trying to add a domain on WAAD. I've followed the steps in order to add it on the Azure console. Now I have to verify the domaine, as explain on http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windowsazure/jj151803.aspx#BKMK_cname

However I can't create a domain with the "@" symbole (MX nor TXT). it is refused by my DNS manager. I've check the RCF and it clearly says this symbole should not be used (RFC1912) for most of DNS record.

Is there an other way to verify a domain ?

I don't understand why we have to use a special character ... seriously was it so difficult to generate a random string with normal ASCII characters ?
