Shared mailbox vs local user dir sync problem

We have converted a few mailboxes to shared mailboxes on Office 365. I wasn't aware yesterday that shared mailboxes still had an user account.

So I removed the accounts in our local active directory yesterday that I didn't think where still necessary (since they were converted to an shared mailbox). That was a mistake...

As soon as DirSync kicked it, bye bye were the shared mailboxes. I then restored those mailboxes in the office365 via the "deleted users", but each time active directory sync's, it deletes them again...

So as a deperated measure, I recreated the user locally. When Dir tried to sync, it gave a sync conflict stating that the user already exists and it had removed the shared maibox again... When I then tried to restore the deleted user online, it was in conflict, so I had to rename the user account.

Because of this fiasco, I then removed everything from the shared mailbox online and locally. Then created a shared mailbox online, but that also creates a new user online..

So I'm a little worried that when dirSync kicks in, it will delete that user again... Luckly, the dirSync doesn't want to sync anymore :p it hangs on "export". Untill I hear back from here, I've disabled dirsync as a temporary measure...

Do I delete everything online again and try to recreate the user localy, let it sync and convert it back to a shared mailbox and restore the pst file or is there an easier way?
