We are gearing up to sync our AD to Azure AD and will be using Azure AD connect. It says that the application does not need to reside on the DC and that we can use an existing SQL server instead of installing the SQL 2012 express.
Has anyone installed this on a different server than the DC?
Has anyone installed this and utilized an existing SQL server?
Does that SQL server need to be 2012? Currently we are on 2008 R2 would that be a show stopper?
If you did use an existing SQL server did you have to do any set up previous to the installation of the software or did the application create the database? ( new instance, name database...)
