Sub domain per tenant with Azure AD Application and OpenID Connect

I have worked through the Multi-tenant OpenID connect sample on GitHub (https://github.com/AzureADSamples/WebApp-MultiTenant-OpenIdConnect-DotNet) and managed to get it working for my SaaS scenario. However, as of now all my tenants are pointing to the same domain e.g. portal.myapp.com because I can't understand how to map multiple tenant subdomains as part of the configuration.  I would like them to go through tenant1.myapp.com tenant2.myapp.com etc.

Is it the intention that I have a non tenant specific URL for all tenants to sign up with plus a non tenant specific return URL configured, from which point I then redirect them to their subdomain after all the authentication has taken place i.e. tenant1.myapp.com?

Tenant subdomains is the most common way of separating tenants and is used in many Microsoft SaaS apps e.g. VSOnline, Dynamics CRM Online etc. I therefore feel like I'm missing something from my understanding of Azure Applications but it is not mentioned in any of the more recent open ID connect samples/documentation. Is anyone embarking on something similar or worked through this issue already? Is the sub domain something that comes in to play after the tenant user has authenticated?

Any ideas/input greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Paul
