Native app authentication error: The supplied user name isn't a valid email address

We are experiencing an issue with our Native Application and logging in to Azure AD.

When signing in we get an error: Sorry, but we're having trouble signing you in. With a description at the bottom of 'The supplied user name isn't a valid email address'. This is displayed instead of the usual consent page, the user must give the app consent to sign in to Azure AD.

The username entered is an email address and the user can log in to Office 365 without issues.

This worked fine a few weeks ago, and now does not work anymore. We did not make any changes in the app or on our Azure config.

We are using ADALiOS for authentication.

Is this an intended change to prevent native apps from accessing Azure AD and Office 365 apis outside of its own tenant? Any help appreciated.
